WIRE Supports Voting YES

WIRE acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have an ongoing connection to the lands and waters of Australia that includes a continuous sovereign custodianship.

WIRE supports First Nations self-determination and believes that all people should have control of their own lives.

WIRE supports the calls of the Uluru Statement from the Heart for Voice, Treaty and Truth and will continue to stand beside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders after the referendum in their continued struggle for treaty and truth.

This means ensuring that differing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives on the Voice process are heard, respected and included.

We hope that the Voice will be a step towards achieving deep structural change, decolonisation, and liberation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, non-binary people, gender diverse people, sistergirls and brotherboys.
