Our community education programs are run in person as well as online. People attend our sessions for different reasons. It could be for educating themselves, better supporting their clients, or learning to advocate for their family members or friends.
WIRE’s programs include:
Due to the grassroots nature of our organisation, we have developed strong relationships with different communities around Melbourne and wider Victoria over the past 40 years.
Some key topics we present on include:
Community education is a core part of our service offerings as often we pick up on emerging issues through our phone room that are not yet in the mainstream services. Therefore, by reaching out to marginalised communities and sharing our knowledge of emerging issues, we can help them proactively address the issues.
These sessions are usually the starting point for many people to learn how to self-advocate to change their circumstances, and more importantly believe that change is possible.
