Stalking

Stalking is a crime in all Australian states and territories.

Stalking is when a person, usually someone you know, tries to keep in contact or spies on you. It is a criminal offence and there is a high probability of violence when stalking persists for more than two weeks. After this point, it is recommended that you take a proactive approach such as contacting the police, documenting the stalking, informing your friends or considering an intervention order.

WIRE's Stalking information booklet helps you understand:

  • What is stalking?
  • Who stalks and why?
  • What to do if you are being stalked
  • Common reactions to being stalked
