Host a Women’s Empowerment Workshop:

Organise a workshop that focuses on empowering women through education and skill-building. Topics can include career development, financial literacy, mental health, self-defence, and leadership skills. Invite speakers who are experts in their fields and who can provide valuable insights and inspiration.

Some feminist themes you can include:

  • Intersectionality: Ensure the workshop addresses the diverse experiences of women from different backgrounds, including race, sexuality, and socioeconomic status.
  • Empowerment: Highlight stories of women who have overcome challenges and achieved success.
  • Solidarity: Create a supportive environment where women can share their experiences and build a network of allies.

Charity Auction

Collect donations of goods or services from local businesses and hold an auction. This can be done in person or online. Items can include artwork, handmade crafts, gift certificates, and experiences like spa days or cooking classes. All proceeds go to WIRE.

Some feminist ideas to incorporate:

  • Women-Owned Businesses: Prioritise donations from women-owned businesses to support female entrepreneurs.
  • Art and Culture: Include items that celebrate women’s contributions to art, literature, and culture.
  • Community Support: Emphasise the importance of supporting services that help women in need.

Community Fun Run/Walk

Plan a fun run or walk in your local area. Participants can pay an entry fee, and you can also seek sponsorships from local businesses. The event can include different distances to accommodate all fitness levels.

Some feminist ideas to incorporate:

  • Body Positivity: Promote the event as inclusive for all body types and fitness levels, celebrating women’s health and well-being.
  • Awareness: Use the event to raise awareness about issues affecting women, such as domestic violence, gender equality, and reproductive rights.
  • Solidarity: Encourage participants to run or walk in groups to symbolise unity and support for women’s rights.

Trivia Night

Host a trivia night at a local venue or online. Charge an entry fee for teams and offer prizes donated by local businesses. Questions can cover a wide range of topics, including general knowledge, pop culture, and history.

Some feminist themes you can include:

  • Women in History: Include trivia questions that highlight the achievements of women throughout history.
  • Pop Culture: Feature questions about influential women in music, film, literature, and sports.
  • Gender Equality: Incorporate questions that educate participants about gender equality and women’s rights movements.
