A story about bravery
Our support workers have been inspired by the bravery, resilience and resourcefulness of those who’ve reached out to us during lockdown. One of those people is Delia, who escaped a violent partner. Read Delia’s story now.
Our support workers are here to help those hardest hit by COVID-19
Some of the women, nonbinary and gender diverse people who contact WIRE are among the worst hit by COVID-19, experiencing homelessness, isolation, family violence and poverty.
We are the only Victorian service that provides support to women, nonbinary and gender diverse people on any issue. We don’t force our service users to fit rigid eligibility criteria. We hold the whole person, because we know life’s hard times don’t fit neatly in one box.
What your donation will mean to women, nonbinary and gender diverse people worst affected by COVID-19
Last year we provided individualised support, information and referrals to 5,944 women, nonbinary and gender diverse people. Service users like Delia face dangerous and frightening circumstances with bravery and courage. As Victoria eases out of lockdown we expect many more requests for support.
Reaching our goal would mean extra support workers and trained volunteers staffing our phone line and drop in centre, ready to work with people like Delia to explore options and find solutions that work for them.
Any donation over $2 is fully tax deductible
EOFY is approaching. Make any donation over $2 and you can claim the full amount as a tax deduction.
Why not make a tax deductible donation to WIRE today? We provide support, information and referral to all women, nonbinary and gender diverse people on any issue — including family violence, financial abuse, poverty and homelessness, legal issues, separation and parenting, elder abuse, employment and health and wellbeing.
We know that COVID-19 has caused and worsened financial hardship and other issues for many people. If you are not in a position to donate and need support, call (1300 134 130), email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or contact us via web chat (www.wire.org.au). We are here to listen.
