Education Programs

WIRE runs different education and information programs for women to

  • Support them in their search for work
  • Improve their computer skills
  • Give information on women’s health and other issues by professional experts and practitioners
  • Improve their financial literacy

Broadband for seniors

Our Women’s Information Centre now offers a free internet kiosk (2 computers) for older members of the local community, and includes online training for beginners. This kiosk is a part of Australian Government initiative “Broadband for Seniors” to increase the skills of older Australians using computers and the internet.

Job club sessions

Mondays 11am to 1pm  (Fortnightly)

Are you seeking work? Book a free 30-minute one-to-one consultation with a WISE Employment Officer. You can polish up your job-hunting techniques, resume and interview skills, or find out more about Centrelink eligibilities and access to Job Services Australia scheme. Job Club (with WISE Employment) runs free fortnightly sessions. Call (03) 9921 0878 or email inforequests@wire.org.au to book your free place.

Basic computer courses

Tuesdays or Thursdays 11am to 1pm (Weekly)

Our volunteer instructors run free courses (four women per class) and they follow your own pace and interests. Each course runs for three weeks with a two-hour class each week. No homework or exams! Call (03) 9921 0878 or email inforequests@wire.org.au to book your free place.

Information seminars

We run a series of free information seminars throughout the year, presented by experts and practitioners on women’s health and other women’s issues. Topics for our 2012 series include stalking, cyberbullying, surrogacy and infant mental health. Nicholes Family Law continues to be our  kind sponsor for this year’s series, and all seminars are held at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre.

Women & Money 2010

This partnership project between WIRE Women’s Information, the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre and the Victorian Government through the Office of Women’s Policy (Victoria) delivered a series of individual seminars on selected financial topics and a 4-week workshop program to women in Victoria.
