Where is WIC?
The Women's Information Centre is located on the ground floor of the Queen Victoria Women's Centre at 210 Lonsdale St (between Swanston and Russell Streets), Melbourne.
What can you do at WIC?
WIRE's Women's Information Centre (WIC) provides face to face support, referrals and information. There's no need to make an appointment, just drop in for:
- Information - about anything and everything - from finding a new place to live, to leaving a violent relationship or coping with depression. WIC's Information Office and WIRE's extensive database can help and we have lots and lots of brochures you can browse and take with you.
- Free public access computers with internet access and printing facilities
- Support in looking for a job or returning to study
- Help with learning to use a computer or searching the internet
- A community notice board with ideas for things to do and avenues for community action
- Book into a free lunchtime information session. To see what’s coming up visit our events page
- A comfy couch to take a break, feed the baby, chat with friends or just shelter from the storm outside
- Free computer classes and Job Club (more info on both further down this page)

10:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday
Getting to WIC
The building can be accessed from the main entrance on Lonsdale Street. Disabled access is available via a ramp which runs up the side of the building to the back door.
By Car
There's metered parking on Lonsdale and Russell Streets. Alternatively, the QV shopping precinct has a large car park underneath the city block with 1500 car spaces. Parking costs a maximum of $25 per day (For more info visit the QV website) Melways Reference: 43 H7
By Train
Melbourne Central Station, which services all train lines, is the closest station to QVWC.
By Bus
Bus routes 200, 201, 203, 207, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306, 307, 308, and 309 all stop near QVWC.
By Tram
Tram routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 22, 64, 67, and 72 stop near QVWC at the corner or Swanston and Lonsdale Streets. Destinations/routes include: Melbourne University, East Coburg, South Melbourne, Malvern, East Malvern, Glen Iris, Toorak, St Kilda Beach, Moreland, and Brighton.

Computer Classes
Are computers and the internet a complete mystery to you?
WIRE provides free, basic computer and internet lessons for women of all ages that can be tailored to meet your individual interests and needs. With only four women in a class our volunteer computer tutors can go along with you at your own pace and give you as much attention as you need.We can cover the absolute basics, including:
- how to drive a mouse
- set up an email account
- how to create and save documents in Microsoft Word.
Each course runs for four weeks with weekly, two hour classes. You can choose to come on a Tuesday or a Friday.

Job Club
Are you a woman looking for work? Are you frustrated? Losing confidence? Need a lift? Come into a Job Club session at the Women’s Information Centre. A staff member from WISE Employment will be on hand to answer your questions and provide support with:
- free public access computers and internet
- setting up an email account and using the internet
- career counselling
- doing industry research
- job searching
- resume writing
- writing job applications
- interview skills
- whatever you need to help you get a job!
You can come to as many Job Club sessions as you like.
