Students
WIRE takes two student placements per year from community development, community welfare, social work or similar courses. Student placements must satisfy our selection and interview process:
- All student placements at WIRE must complete our 8-week telephone support worker training program (at no cost).
- We offer 3 intakes of this training program in February, May and October. Dates and times are pre-arranged and you may need to rearrange your student placement hours to suit these dates and times.
- Student placements need to be 21 year or older to qualify for the program.
- Priority will be given to women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, that means being an Indigenous woman, speaking another language at home, being born overseas or having parents who were born overseas. This way you can help us better serve and promote our services to the women in your community.
- Successful student placements must be passionate, show initiative and be able to work independently and with our team.

You can apply for a student placement with us in one of two ways:
- Email: Download and fill in this Student Placement Form Text (210 KB). Email your completed form together with your CV attached (as a Word document or pdf file) to training@wire.org.au OR
- Postal: Print and fill in this Student Placement Form (115 KB). Mail your completed form together with a copy of your CV to Training Coordinator, WIRE Women’s Information, Level 1, 210 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne 3000
Currently we are not taking expressions of interest for student placements. Applications have closed and will reopen later this year. Suitable candidates will be contacted for an interview.
